The theater group at Unter Druck e.V is open to anyone interested in theatrical performance. The performance on the stage with others as well as the necessary coordinated work during rehearsals brings people together who have been marginalized by society and brings them back into the mainstream of society. Theater makes tremendous demands on the homeless with regards to the necessary discipline during rehearsals. Once the hurdles have been overcome, however, the actors begin to enjoy themselves in this “joint venture.”
At the very inception, the theater group wanted to attain the goal of making homelessness and its causes the subject of theater performance. In the meantime, the common game and performance as well as the cultural event have become the center of attention for the group. Common activity and collective success are therapeutically effective. Although we are no therapists, we know that enjoying games and participating in games offer good therapeutical results.
The theater group is now in a state of upheaval. Now, every participant is responsible for him or herself.
